Adwithiya wins maiden CS title for Orissa, outside state
 
Adwithiya Patnaik became the first tennis player from Orissa to win a singles title in an AITA Championship Series (CS) Tournament at Kolkata on today. In the final, Adwithiya overcame stiff fight in the first set to beat Richi Agarwal of West Bengal 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.

According to Adwithiya’s coach Santosh Kumar Mallick, this was Adwithiya’s fifth career singles title, all coming in lass than a year.

A product of Bhubaneswar-based Gurukul Tennis Academy, Adwithiya earlier bagged three Talent Series (TS) titles at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Raipur and one CS crown at Keonjhar (Orissa). He also pocketed two doubles titles during the one-year period. The latest triumph, which fetched 20 AITA points, is expected to put him among the top 25 in the under-14 National rankings.
